“I was once asked why I don’t participate in anti-war demonstrations. I said that I will never do that, but as soon as you have a pro-peace rally, I’ll be there.” …Mother Teresa
There are legions of people out there who try to explain this statement by Mother Teresa. Why would she participate in a pro-peace rally but not in anti-war demonstrations? Aren’t they pretty well the same things? Wouldn’t they both achieve the same results? The answer to those two questions is a resounding NO, they are not the same things and they would not achieve the same results.
“What you choose to focus on becomes your reality.” …Jen Sincero
What you focus on becomes your reality because of the Power of creation that’s inherent within you. Whatever you put your attention on becomes real in your experience because you have the Power to make it so even if you’re unaware of it. You may not want to accept it, you may not want to believe it, but you were created as a Creator. You, my friend, have within you the Intelligence of the universe. This means that you have the Power within you to make or to create.
As Jesus tells us in The Course: “Thoughts can represent lower-order or higher-order reality. This is the basic distinction between intellectualizing and thinking. One makes the physical and the other creates the spiritual, and we believe in what we make or create.”
Mother Teresa was well aware of this inherent Power and understood that participating in anti-war demonstrations would cause her focus to be placed on war. She was advanced enough to know that focusing on it would only cause it to be prolonged. She also understood that taking part in a pro-peace rally would place her attention on the desired result, which was peace. Focusing on peace was the way to achieve peace as a real result. It was simply a decision based on her spiritual understanding and her desire to see peace in the world as her reality instead of war.
“There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the cosmos. A thought in this substance produces the thing that is imaged by the thought” …Wallace D. Wattles
Wallace Wattles wrote the above quote way back in 1910, and except for some of the words being a bit crude, it’s still a great description to help people grasp the ungraspable and understand that which cannot be understood. It provides a bit of insight into the mystery we refer to as God. That which he called a thinking stuff was a crude reference to the Intelligence of this universe and all other universes. As he also pointed out this Intelligence permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the cosmos.
This Intelligence brought you into existence as a Thought and thoughts never leave the Thinker’s mind. In other words, It created you by making you part of Itself, therefore, you have always been, you are now and you will always be a part of that which we call God. As Wattles said, A thought in this substance produces the thing that is imaged by the thought. That’s why it can be said that you were created in God’s Image.
“The mind is a very powerful creator, and it never loses its creative force. It never sleeps. Every instant it is creating and always as you will.” …ACIM
People don’t want to believe in the Power and Intelligence that’s inherent within them because they don’t want to take responsibility for it. It’s a lot easier to simply pass it off to something or someone else. The Intelligence that’s within you is the same Intelligence that designs worlds and other things as marvelous and awesome as your own body. And the Power that’s within you is the same Power that can take those designs and bring them to manifestation. Every cell in your body is brimming with this Intelligence and Power. But as Jesus pointed out in the above quote they’re doing what they’re designed to do always as YOU will.
The body that you think you’re living in at this moment got its start when two microscopic cells united in your mother’s womb. From that moment on until your birth its foundation was built from food that she ate. Since your birth it has continued to build on that foundation from the food that you have eaten. It has grown to its present size and appearance by accumulating usable material from that food and expelling the rest. Do you honestly think that such a miracle could happen without an Intelligence designing it and a Power bringing that design to manifestation?
“The separation is merely another term for a split mind.” …ACIM
If, as Jesus points out, your mind is creating as you will, and it is, then does it not stand to reason that the mind is separate from you and therefore, is not you? And if your body is an accumulation of nutrients and chemicals taken from the food your mother and you have eaten, which has come from the Earth in one way or another, then does it not stand to reason that your body is not you? Neither your mind nor your body is you even though you may believe they are. You are the Intelligence doing the designing and you are also the Power bringing it all to manifestation.
The lower-order or the part of the mind that has split from the whole and is home to the ego, is an accumulation of memories accumulated over thousands and thousands of years. Therefore, its source of thought cannot be anything other than the past. This is the mind that most people use and derive their thoughts from. Thoughts that come from this source make that which most people call their reality. This so-called reality is no more than a repetition of the past and is mostly based in fear and negativity. Until you will to change your mind from one of separation to Unity your physical experience will remain one of fear and negativity
“We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same.” …Carlos Castaneda
Holding an idea in your mind of what you’d like to become doesn’t mean you can change what you are. But it does mean that you can ride the wave of life at the peak of enthusiasm and joy. Most of us don’t will the Intelligence within us to do what we want it to do because we don’t believe we can. We hold the belief that we have no power or influence over what happens to us in our daily lives. But it’s simply not true.
We make ourselves miserable when we continuously place our attention on those emotions that are soaked in misery. Emotions such as worry, judgement, fear, hate, dislike, selfishness, sickness, etc. all contain the low, low frequencies of misery. And when we place our attention upon them we lower our vibrations and attract them to us. In other words, we make ourselves miserable. As Jesus points out in The Course: “It is your thoughts alone that cause you pain. Nothing external to your mind can hurt or injure you in any way.”
I’M going to close this post by leaving you with a quote by Steven Aitchison to ponder: “Most of us, unless we have consciously taken control of our thoughts, bully ourselves. There is no bigger bully than you. You would never talk to your friends or family the way you talk to yourself and yet you wonder why your life is a mess.”
Thank you for visiting this site. I am Blessed by your presence. May God richly Bless you.
