“Poetry might be defined as the clear expression of mixed feelings.” —W.H. Auden
“I wish our clever young poets would remember my homely definitions of prose and poetry: that is, prose = words in their best order; poetry = the best words in the best order.” –Samuel Taylor Coleridge
I’m sure my writing falls somewhere in Mr. Coleridge’s description of prose: “words in their best order.” But that being said, it also falls somewhere in W. H. Auden’s description. A “clear expression of mixed feelings.” Therefore, I’m going to say that what I write is sort of like stories written in prose. The following one is Spiritual and comes from my own beliefs.

Two Worlds
Oh how many have not raised their eyes to the sky,
And asked no one in particular; who or what am I?
It seems in this world of birth and death, no one has a clue,
So they go on asking the sky; what am I; what are you?
The paradox is; they go on asking even though it’s truly so,
There’s not a living thing that doesn’t already know.
But that knowing has been pushed deep into the mind
By a plethora of well-meaning teachers of every kind.
When into this dense dimension we make our debut,
We know our Source from which we come, so true.
It’s a Source not of this world, for It abides all around and above.
It’s the same Source that created us and it’s called, “Love.”
We’re taught there’s a different source, one that dwells off in the sky.
We accept the teaching even though, at first, we doubt the lie.
We’re separate from everything in the universe, the teaching goes,
And from this false teaching we get most of our woes.
The teaching goes on, causing the belief we’re something we’re not.
But something else we’ll never be, no matter how much it’s taught.
Your Creator created you from Love, outside of time’s range,
Which is why, in truth, your reality will never change.
Deep inside the recesses of our hearts we know this to be true,
Which is why we’re never entirely satisfied, no matter what we do.
We keep on searching regardless of where it may lead us to roam,
And we’ll keep on searching until we find our true Home.
This world of flesh will never be home to creations of God,
For Spirit cannot be encased, nor dwell in a world so flawed.
This is the home of the ego and is nothing if not a dream,
A world based in fear where the ego rules supreme.
But there’s another world the body’s eyes will never see.
A place where only Spirit dwells and the ego will never be.
A world where there’s no darkness that turns into night
A home filled with happiness, joy, peace and light.
It’s a world based in Love where negativity is unknown,
A world where only happiness, joy and peace are shown.
It’s not found on a physical plane where sadness can be a part,
It exists only where Love dwells, in the depths of your heart.
It was created by every loving thought you or I have ever had,
For loving thoughts are eternal and not temporary like the bad.
A world where only unity prevails and separation cannot be,
Sickness is unknown and health and beauty is all there is to see.
It’s not reached through illusions, of which death is the biggest by far,
But by realizing the Truth of what, and who, we really are.
Those who believe we’re only flesh cannot access this world of Love,
For until we recognize the Spirit our vibrations aren’t high enough.
