“If you remain as God created you, fear has no meaning, evil is not real, and misery and death do not exist.”  –ACIM (Lesson 110)

Do you truly believe deep in the recesses of your belief system that God created the ephemeral and the fleeting; a temporary entity that’s subject to the ravages of time? Do you truly believe that the Creator of the Universe would actually create a Child and then abandon that Child to imprisonment in this insane world of devastation, fear and death?

It seems to me that if God is capable of this, then His love for His Children is even less than that which humans feel for their offspring. For there’s hardly a human who has not sought, or is, at this moment, not seeking something better for their children. Therefore, in this scenario, human love is far superior to the love that God shows for His Creations. 

“…It would be most beneficial to remind yourself that Love created you like Itself. Hear the truth about yourself in this.” (Lesson 67)

Can you not see how insane it is to believe that Love – the very Love of God – would abandon Its creations in a world of devastation, fear and death? The Power of the Creator of the whole Universe resides in you. It was bestowed upon you when you were created. 

And you have used this Power against your Creator and against your Self. You have used the mighty Power of God in a very loveless way. You have used it to place a Creation of God in a physical prison. Can you even begin to imagine how much power is required to do that? 

“Into eternity, where all is one, there crept a tiny mad idea at which the Son of God remembered not to laugh.”    –ACIM

What was this tiny mad idea at which Love’s Creation forgot to laugh? It was an idea so ludicrous that it’s difficult to accept that a Creation of Love, created like Itself, would not laugh it away. It was the silly idea that time could intrude upon eternity. 

As it remains with you to this very day, because of the Power within you, if you place your attention upon something it will respond to your intentions. The difference today is, you believe you dwell in time and therefore, separate from God. For God dwells in eternity and could never be in the dimension of time. Because of this your true Power, even though It’s within you, is not available for you to use. It’s there waiting for you to let go of the destructive belief that you can be separated from Love’s benevolence. 

Jesus also points out: “In his forgetting did the thought become a serious idea and possible of both accomplishment and real effects.” Those real effects, brought about by placing our attention upon the idea of time, are all around us to this very day. They include illusionary  experiences such as loneliness, old age, sickness and death. 

“And with the end of this belief is fear forever over.”   –ACIM (Lesson 197)

Can you imagine yourself living in a world without fear of any kind? It would have to be a world of perfect Love, for that’s the only power that can cast out fear. Without Love there is nothing but fear. With Love there is no fear. The above quote is referring to the belief in death and as it says: with the end of this belief is fear forever over.

As long as you, or I, see the flesh and fail to recognize the Spirit the illusion of death will be there for us to see and believe to be real. The Course tells us that the journey into darkness has been long and cruel, and you have gone deep into it. This journey began when, as The Course tells us, we failed to laugh at the tiny mad idea that time can come to circumvent eternity, which means there is no time.

“Everyone here has entered darkness, yet no one has entered it alone. Nor need he stay more than an instant. For he has come with Heaven’s Help within him ready to lead him out of darkness into light at any time.”   –ACIM

The journey into darkness is the journey sometimes referred to as the human experience. To embark on this journey as a human required that we separate ourselves from our Creator, make an entity to take our Creator’s place and make a vehicle capable of existing in a physical dimension. So we made the ego to take our Creator’s place and the body in order to enter into a physical experience. As The Course says: “A mind within a body and a world of other bodies, each with separate minds, are your ‘creations,’ you the ‘other’ mind, creating with effects unlike yourself.”

Even though you made the frightful decision to separate yourself from your creator, your Creator has not allowed it to happen. You were created by Love like Itself and Love will never abandon you to your own demise. To be completely separated from Love would mean your death could be possible. For nothing could live separated from its very Source of Life, which is Love. Therefore, as the above quote enlightens you, even though you may be unaware of it, you did not enter darkness alone; you came with Heaven’s Help within you.   

“Nothing at all has happened but that you have put yourself to sleep and dreamed a dream in which you were an alien to yourself and but a part of someone else’s dream.”   –ACIM

Even a Son of God could not perform the impossible. The impossible being that Love’s Creation could separate Itself from Its Creator. Does it not create a feeling of gratitude within you to be told that nothing at all has happened? In my opinion, we should all be raising our voices to Heaven in thanksgiving to our Creator for this information. For it means that no matter how deep, dark and cruel this journey seems to be it’s not real and we remain as God created us. And as my opening quote says: If you remain as God created you, fear has no meaning, evil is not real, and misery and death do not exist. 

“A dream is like a memory in that it pictures what you wanted shown to you.”   –ACIM

 It seems that God’s Son decided that He wanted more; that Everything wasn’t enough. At this stage of my so-called learning I cannot understand why this was so. It just doesn’t make any sense to me as to why Love’s Creation would entertain an idea so silly as time and eternity being part of one another. I have often asked questions such as; why, if I were in Heaven, would I choose to leave and come here?

First of all, the answer to my questions must begin with the understanding that Heaven and Eternity are not some geographical location way off in space somewhere. As Jesus tells us: “Heaven is not a place nor a condition. It is merely an awareness of perfect Oneness and the knowledge that there is nothing else; nothing outside this Oneness and nothing else within.” 

By concentrating upon the tiny, mad and impossible idea that time could intrude upon eternity the Power of God within me began to turn it into, as The Course says: A serious idea and possible of both accomplishment and real effects. 

This is possibly the first illusion that Love’s Creation ever experienced. It was the illusion that I could separate my Self from the Mind of my Creator. And now here I am, in a dream, being shown exactly what the effects of such a condition, if it were possible, would be. 

The main effect, and the one I fear the most, would be my own death. All I can say is Thank God that nothing at all has happened but that I have put myself to sleep and dreamed a dream. In other words, this whole thing from birth to the grave is, every bit of it, just a dream. There is nothing real about it! 

I’m going to close this post with a quote (a short prayer) by Marianne Williamson: “Dear God, May I know myself as Your beloved child. May I always remember You created me in holiness and love. This is truly who I am, and so shall I remain. Amen.”
