“…Faithlessness leads straight to illusions. For faithlessness is the perception of a brother as a body…”   A Course In Miracles

When you look upon another human being and believe what your eyes tell you; do you think you’re looking upon the Son that God created? Or are you looking upon the hiding place of the ego which it made from fear? Don’t take these questions too lightly because as the above quote informs us, faithlessness is the perception of a brother as a body, which is why it leads straight to illusions. Illusions are magic tricks that are designed to hide the truth.

What can you accomplish without faith? Whatever you do or accomplish requires a certain amount of it. Faith and belief are pretty much synonymous. There’s not a lot of difference between believing in yourself or having faith in yourself. That being said, in order for faith to have any power it must be accompanied by belief. For belief is the deciding factor which gives faith power or renders it powerless. 

“It is hard to recognize that thought and belief combine into a power surge that can literally move mountains.”   –A Course In Miracles 

Wow! Whenever I use quotes like this I feel the need to remind you of something Jesus says about The Course, which is this: This course will be believed entirely or not at all. For it is wholly true or wholly false and cannot be but partially believed. 

No one can describe with words what Thought is anymore than they can describe what Love is or what God is. The only description that anyone should attempt of either one is, it is. God is; Love is; Thought is; that’s it!

In the above quote Jesus doesn’t mention faith. If belief in the idea that Thought either makes the physical or creates the Spiritual is strong enough then the faith is already there. In my opening quote he strongly implies that faith comes upon the recognition of the Spirit. He says that faithlessness, which is the opposite of faith, is the perception of a brother as a body. 

Until you’re ready to see beyond what your physical eyes tell you and recognize that which lies beyond the flesh, faith will remain aloof to you. That being said, it’s faith that causes belief to become strong. But neither faith or belief is possible without thought. As Abraham-Hicks tells us, “A belief is just a thought that you keep thinking.” 

“You also believe the body’s brain can think. If you but understood the nature of thought, you could but laugh at this insane idea.”   –A Course In Miracles 

In all of existence there’s only one Source of Thought and that’s the Mind of God. This Mind is the Source from which you were created and It’s the Source of your Life throughout eternity. As The Course tells us, The Thought God holds of you is like a star, unchangeable in an eternal sky. You were created as a Thought, or an Idea, in God’s Mind. That’s what you are and that’s what you’ll be throughout eternity. Once again, as The Course tells us,  Ideas do not leave the mind which thought them to have a separate being.

Most humans will laugh in scorn at the suggestion that thought and belief combine into a power surge that can literally move mountains. But those who recognize the Spirit take a different approach. If Thought is powerful enough to create you and me and everything else in existence, then moving a mountain would be, as The Course explains, indeed a little feat for such a power.

“…If you perceive but one need in yourself, you will be healed.”   –A Course In Miracles

Although you perceive yourself as having a plethora of needs, in reality you have only one. The only need you have is to recognize, believe and accept wholeheartedly the truth that you are a part of God. That you are an idea in His Mind and Ideas do not leave the mind which thought them to have a separate being. You never were, you aren’t now, nor will you ever be, separate from God. Once you can allow yourself to accept this wholeheartedly you’ll realize just how ludicrous it is for you, as a part of God, to be sick. 

The underlying foundation, so to speak, of creation is Energy. But It’s not an energy as we think of it in this world of duality. This Energy is a thinking Energy and it has no opposite. It is All-There-Is,  All-Of-All and there is nothing else anywhere, any place or any time. It fills, saturates, permeates, and penetrates everything in existence. It is nothing but benevolent, magnanimous, kind, forgiving, merciful, compassionate, caring, understanding, peaceful etc., etc. This Energy is an attribute of God. In fact, It’s the only attribute God has, It is pure Love and It expresses and extends Itself through Thought. You are an extension of this Love held forever as a Thought in God’s Mind. 

Earlier I wrote, No one can describe with words what Thought is anymore than they can describe what Love is or what God is. I mention this here because the above paragraph may appear to be a contradiction to that. It may seem as if I’m trying to describe Thought, God or Love, but actually I’m not. It’s simply my own perception to create a reference point from which to understand the immense power contained in Thought. 

Jesus tells us in The Course that, “The Thought of God created you. It left you not, nor have you ever been apart from It an instant. It belongs to you. By It you live. It is your Source of life, holding you one with It, and everything is one with you because It left you not.”

“The mind is a very powerful creator, and it never loses its creative force. It never sleeps. Every instant it is creating and always as you will.”   –A Course In Miracles

This is where either faith or faithlessness is revealed to you. The Spirit cannot be seen with physical eyes. Those that recognize it do so through faith and it’s also through faith they realize the Power of Thought. The flesh can be seen with the body’s eyes and therefore, it requires no faith. It is seen through faithlessness. Those who see it only, perceive thought to be nothing more than mental activity.

Everyone should read and reread the above quote until the immensity of its message sinks in. Those who have accepted the idea as stated by Jesus in The Course that it will be believed entirely or not at all and have decided to believe it entirely should especially pay attention. 

The mind is a very powerful creator

Your mind is a part of God’s Mind and as mentioned earlier, God’s Mind is the only Source of Thought In all of existence. God creates through Thought and you, as part of God, do the same. You are a Co-Creator with God and your mission is to create conditions that bring joy, peace and happiness. For there is no other purpose in Life other than creating Joy for yourself and others.

This mind mentioned here is not that tiny part of your mind that believes it’s separated from its creator and sees itself as a body. That is the ego mind and has no power to create. It has access to lower-order thoughts only and can only make that which is temporary. It cannot create the spiritual for all spiritual creations are eternal. Lower-order thoughts are those that don’t originate with God and therefore are all negative and fearful. They’re not real and therefore they produce all the fearful illusions of this world. 

The Mind mentioned as a very powerful creator is your true Mind and knows Itself to be in union with Its Creator and therefore it is whole and doesn’t know of separation. It only knows Itself as One with God and shares His thoughts. By sharing God’s thoughts of Love It creates the good, the beautiful, and the holy. 

“For you can never choose except between God and the ego.”   –A Course In Miracles 

In this world of duality everything seems to have an opposite, including God’s Thought System, even though such a thing could never be in truth. In this world we must decide between God’s Thought System of Love and the ego’s thought system of fear. The former consists of higher-order Thoughts that originate in Love. The latter consists of lower-order thoughts that originate in fear. And it’s our choice as to which one we’re going to listen to. 

I’m going to close this post with A Course In Miracles quote: “Here is your choice, and it is free. But all that lies in it will come with it, and what you think you are can never be apart from it. The body is the great seeming betrayer of faith. In it lies disillusionment and the seeds of faithlessness, but only if you ask of it what it cannot give.”
