Because there are different editions of A Course In Miracles out there I feel obligated to make it known that the only one I use, and quote from, is the Original Edition published by the Course in Miracles Society of Omaha, Nebraska, USA.

“Who walks with me?”
“This question should be asked a thousand times a day, till certainty has ended doubting and established peace.” –ACIM
Wow! Jesus must think the answer to the question; who walks with me? to be a very important one to suggest we ask it a thousand times a day. Most humans don’t ever give the idea of someone walking with them on this physical journey a second thought. Most everyone believes they are alone and separate from everything and everyone in the Universe. Therefore, except for a few close friends and family members, they believe they walk this physical journey alone.
The above quote implies that if we’re persistent in our quest to know who walks with us, then eventually, we will know beyond doubt, and this knowing will establish peace.
“If you knew Who walks beside you on this way which you have chosen, fear would be impossible.” –ACIM
Peace and fear cannot be together for they are mutually exclusive of each other. Therefore when your Friend is finally known to you, fear will not be a part of your existence. The belief that you’re alone and separated from everything and everyone in the Universe is the whole foundation of fear, and it’s also a false belief. It never was true, it’s not true now, nor will it ever be true.
Those who see the flesh and hold the belief that the body is all they are will never understand, as The Course points out, their passage through time and space is not random.
“Your Friend goes with you. You are not alone.” –ACIM
Whomever it may be that walks beside you is not there just for the walk. It’s your Friend Who walks with you and this Friend has been there since time began and will be there until time ends for you. Once you genuinely become aware of Who this Friend is, time will end for you, for you will have stepped out of it and into eternity; you will have finally found your true Home.
“No one who calls on Him can call in vain.” –ACIM
As already mentioned, your Friend is not there simply for the walk. Your Friend is there to urge you to change your mind and as a result to change directions and return Home. Your Friend is there to assist you on your return journey to your true Home. Without this Friend you would wander aimlessly and be hopelessly lost for all eternity.
“Your home has called to you since time began, nor have you ever failed entirely to hear.” –ACIM
God did not allow His Creations to separate Themselves from Him, nor will He leave them to wander aimlessly and be hopelessly lost. He is your Home, and has called you to return ever since you immersed yourself in the illusion of time. He will never cease calling to you until you are united with your true Self once again.
All through the eons of time you have heard Him calling, sometimes ever so dimly, and have not understood Who it is that calls ceaselessly unto you. Even so, you have always felt that this world is not your home as The Course reminds us: “You will undertake a journey because you are not at home in this world. And you will search for your home whether you know where it is or not.”
“If you believe it is outside yourself, the search will be futile, for you will be seeking it where it is not.” –ACIM
If we’re honest with ourselves and really contemplate upon this so-called life in this physical dimension, we would have to admit that there’s “something” missing. We’re not sure what it is, but there’s no denying the fact that this world always seems to be wanting. It matters not how much physical stuff we accumulate, contentment always seems to be an illusive condition.
Whether we want to admit it, or not, we’re always searching for that elusive “something,” even though we’re not sure what it is. But the thing is, as the above quote points out, most of us are searching for it in the physical world. What we’re searching for is our Home and it does not exist in this physical world, which is outside of us.
“You go toward love, still hating it and terribly afraid of its judgment upon you.” –ACIM
This is one of those statements that cause me to hold tight to the following information Jesus provides about The Course: “This course will be believed entirely or not at all. For it is wholly true or wholly false and cannot be but partially believed.” The message here is clear, I either accept everything it says as truth, or I accept nothing it says as truth. There’s no compromise that can be made in this.
Therefore, when it tells me that I’m going toward love, still hating it and terribly afraid of its judgment upon me, I must believe it, or lay The Course aside as no more than any other well-written book. But I have been studying it for eleven years and I know it’s more than that. I have accepted it as the ultimate in Spiritual Teachings that can be found in this world.
Now the questions begin to arise in my awareness; questions such as; why would I be going toward love if I still hate it and am terribly afraid of its judgment upon me? Well, as already mentioned above, my passage through time and space is not random, even though in this world of illusions I see it that way.
I now understand that, as The Course tells me, in an instant so ancient that it is beyond all memory and past even the possibility of remembering, I believe I separated myself from my Creator, which is Love. As The Course also informs me: Love created you like Itself. Hear the truth about yourself in this.”
In my unconscious mind I have held onto a huge amount of guilt over what I believe I did to my Creator when I separated myself from Him. Because of this internalized guilt I have been holding onto the false belief that I deserve punishment for what I did and that God is going to hand out that punishment.
None of this is true, it’s all an illusion made up by the ego which knows absolutely nothing except conflict, guilt and punishment. On the other hand, God knows nothing about punishment, for God is Perfect Love and Perfect Love only loves. As The Course puts it: “God does not forgive, because He has never condemned.”
God doesn’t need to forgive us for something He knows we didn’t do. But we need to forgive ourselves for the false belief that we did do it and let go of the unnecessary holding onto guilt.
When this forgiveness is received we then will go toward love unafraid of any judgment at all. And the great thing is, the best realization of all, we’ll realize that we’re going toward and reuniting with our true Selves.
I’m going to close this post with another Course In Miracles quote: “Today let doubting cease. God speaks for you in answering your question with these words: I walk with God in perfect holiness. I light the world, I light my mind and all the minds which God created one with me.”
Thank you for visiting this site. I am truly grateful. May You be blessed with the revelation of Who it is that walks with you on every step you take on this physical journey.
