“There is no darkness that the light of love will not dispel, unless it is concealed from love’s beneficence.”   –A Course In Miracles

What is darkness; can it not be said that it is no more than the absence of light? If you walk into a dark room and flip a light switch; where is the darkness? Has not the presence of light dispelled it? Was it a difficult and long struggle for the light to do so? And once the light is turned on is not that which was hidden in the darkness exposed and in plain sight? It’s not difficult to understand that darkness has no power over light but is dispelled instantly in light’s presence. 

Even though the above paragraph is referring to physical darkness and physical light it’s the same with spiritual darkness and Spiritual light. The light of love will dispel darkness if you open darkness’ hiding place. If you’re afraid to open the locked and barred doors that keep the darkness hidden then you’re concealing it from love’s beneficence. When God’s Son forgets what he is and allows darkness and fear to enter his mind then love’s light must leave. For Love Itself, the most powerful force in all of existence, has not the power to awaken a Son of God who is determined to keep his mind closed and steeped in darkness

“Yours is the way of pain, of which God knows nothing.”   –A Course In Miracles

The Course also informs us that the power of decision is your one remaining freedom as a prisoner of this world. Everything in this so-called life depends on a decision. Right now I can decide whether to write more on this post or just leave it. You can decide to read it or just leave it. The Course also says: If you knew Who walks beside you on this way which you have chosen, fear would be impossible. 

Who is it that walks beside you on this way which you have chosen? Let’s let The Course answer this question: “You can indeed afford to laugh at fear thoughts, remembering that God goes with you wherever you go.” Wow! That sounds as if it’s God Who walks beside you. 

God walks beside you but you don’t know it because you and God are walking in separate ways. Again, as The Course points out: “You have dreamed of a separated ego, and you have believed in a world which rests upon it.” A separated ego walking in a separated world walks in a world of fear which is the way of pain, of which God knows nothing. 

“Spirit am I, a holy Son of God, free of all limits, safe and healed and whole, free to forgive, and free to save the world.”   –A Course In Miracles

At this point I feel it’s necessary to insert a quote from The Course which I repeat often: “This course will be believed entirely or not at all. For it is wholly true or wholly false and cannot be but partially believed.”

The above header quote is from Lesson 97 in The Course and you’re encouraged to repeat it to yourself until you believe it. As The Course says, it will bring your mind from conflict to the quiet fields of peace. 

You’re either a Spirit Being, a holy Son of God, safe and healed and whole or The Course is wrong. There’s no compromise that can be made here. Either it’s true or it’s false and if it’s false then the whole Course is false and good only to add to the contents of a garbage can. It’s just that simple. 

“You can indeed afford to laugh at fear thoughts…”   –A Course In Miracles

You can only afford to laugh at fear thoughts if you believe and accept the truth of what you are. You cannot believe that you’re a lump of clay and be free of fear thoughts. If you believe you’re a body then your life is based and immersed in fear. Nothing else surrounds you, comes near you or enters your experiences other than fear. It’s only when you reach the point where you recognize the Spirit that you can look fear straight in its face and laugh as it recedes into the nothingness from which it came. 

The quote continues with the information you need to be able to do this: remembering that God goes with you wherever you go. Without a firm understanding, acceptance and belief in this truth you will not be able to laugh at fear thoughts. 

“When God created you, He made you part of Him.”   –A Course In Miracles

You can read these quotes again and again but they’ll not be of one iota of benefit until you believe them, accept them into your heart and allow the heart to speak louder than the intellect. For this is where the understanding part begins. If you can accept and believe that God made you part of Him then it naturally follows that wherever you go, God will be there with you. 

If God is with you, and He must be if you’re part of Him, then who or what should you fear? Fear raises its ugly awareness only when you believe you’re separated from God. But choose to believe and place your faith in the truth that you’re a part of God and can never be separated from Him and fear will flee from you. 

“Why is it strange to you that faith can move mountains? This is indeed a little feat for such a power.”  –A Course In Miracles 

You are part of God and as such you are endowed with the same power that God is. When God created you He shared Himself with you which is why you’re part of Him. You were created and endowed with the power to create so you could create the good, the beautiful, and the holy. But you have misused this God-given Power and used it to imprison yourself. 

How much faith has it taken to relieve part of God of the Power of creation? This is what you have done. You have placed your faith in the ego instead of your Creator and the ego has convinced you that you are a limited, little and imprisoned physical entity. If you could only imagine how much power and faith it has taken to place a Son of God in a five-sensory prison then you would understand the power of faith. 

“…It is you who have the power to dominate all things you see by merely recognizing what you are.”   –A Course In Miracles

The Course also says, It is hard to recognize that thought and belief combine into a power surge that can literally move mountains. Is it not time for us to realize just how much power is ours simply by recognizing the Spirit; simply by recognizing what we are? And is it not time to stop giving our power away to those who then turn it against us? 

You take your power back by remembering and recognition. You remember that Love created you like Itself and in this remembrance comes the recognition of what you are. Then you remember the words in my opening quote: There is no darkness that the light of love will not dispel. 

I’m going to close this post with a rather long quote from A Course In Miracles: “It is your thoughts alone that cause you pain. Nothing external to your mind can hurt or injure you in any way. There is no cause beyond yourself that can reach down and bring oppression. No one but yourself affects you. There is nothing in the world which has the power to make you ill or sad or weak or frail.”
