Dr. Wayne Dyer once said, “There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.” If there was a way to happiness it would mean that happiness is found somewhere else. And that seems to be the belief of the majority of people. They believe that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence from where they’re standing. Nothing could be more wrong than that way of thinking. Happiness will never be found outside yourself. There is no way to happiness because happiness is nowhere but within you. 

In fact, happiness will never be found for it was never lost. It’s a part of you and simply requires acceptance of that fact. If, as Ms Willamson said in the above quote, The universe is conspiring in every moment to bring you happiness and peace, and you can be sure it is, then what is keeping it from you? The only thing that could keep the universe from delivering is the power of your own mind, the power of your own thoughts; the power of your beliefs.  

“Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened.”   ~~Winston Churchill

I know nothing of what was in Mr. Churchill’s mind when he gave us this gem of wisdom. But regardless of what it was, he enlightened his audience to an eternal truth. There’s not a human on this planet who doesn’t want to be happy for happiness is our inherent nature. And most everyone is searching for it. The Course tells us that God wills you perfect happiness now. And then asks, Is it possible that this is not also your will? 

Again,  if the universe is conspiring in every moment to bring you happiness and you and God both will it so, then what power could possibly keep it from you? The answer to this question is so simple that most of us, as Churchill said, stumble over it. The answer is this, you refuse to accept the idea of who you really are. You listen to the self-hate speeches of your ego mind as it tells you lies about yourself.

How like we humans are to the musk deer. For we search the world over for the Source of happiness which can be found only within ourselves. Every creature on this planet lives in its own little world and it’s within this little world the musk deer searches for its own scent. It’s the same with us humans, we all, each one of us, live within our own little worlds and it’s within these little worlds, which are outside ourselves, that we search for happiness. Ramakrihna also said: “Bondage is of the mind; freedom too is of the mind. If you say ‘I am a free soul. I am a son of God who can bind me’ free you shall be.” 

The Course tells us that “When God created you He made you part of Him.” But all that being said, it’s not an easy thing to accept that you are a child of God. It’s not easy to accept that you are endowed with all the Power of God. These truths are difficult to accept because the ego, that self-hating part of your mind, uses every illusion in its arsenal to convince you just how silly a scenario like that really is. 

The ego grabs your attention with the illusions of old age, sickness and death and then whispers into your intellect, how can you even think such foolishness? You’re a product of this material world and as such you may grow old if you’re lucky but in the end you’ll find your only allotment is the graveyard.

If you can read the above quote with an open mind and heart and absorb what it’s telling you, you’re not far from the path of joy and peace. God created you as part of Him, therefore you share His Life. For death to have any hold on you would mean that part of God’s Life can be taken from Him. Can you even consider just how ludicrous such an idea really is? 

There are two paths through this physical dimension. There’s the path of separation that the ego has made. This path is made completely of illusions. Everything you see, feel, taste, hear or touch while you’re on this path is an illusion. It’s a very crowded path for most of humanity is following it. It leads nowhere but unto the illusions of fear, misery, suffering, poverty, old age, sickness and in the end to the greatest illusion of them all, death. 

The other path is that which the ancient call of Love bids you follow. It’s the path where joy and peace are always surrounding you and held there by the Love of your Creator. To find and follow this path requires no qualifications except a willing and open heart and the strong desire to live life from Love instead of fear. But before you can place your feet upon this path you’ll need to do some serious contemplation upon ideas such as, there is no death.

I think it can be safely stated that the greatest fear and the one that causes most of mankind’s problems is that of death. But if you’re a student of The Course you’re taught that death doesn’t exist. Which means that if you still fear death then you don’t believe the teaching you’re studying. For how could you fear something when you have accepted a teaching that teaches it doesn’t exist? 

I’m not trying to make light of fear for it’s a very serious experience for those who see themselves as separate from God and therefore separated from Love. We’re told in The Course that perfect love casts out fear and we’re also told that only perfect love really exists. Which is why fear creates a state that doesn’t exist. 

“…It would be most beneficial to remind yourself that Love created you like Itself. Hear the truth about yourself in this.”   ~~ACIM

The knowledge contained in the above quote is sufficient to heal every malady, every illness, every negativity and every fear that mankind has ever experienced. But that being said, it hasn’t got the power to do one little thing until it’s accepted, internalized and believed. That’s why it would be most beneficial to remind yourself of it four or five times an hour as The Course says. 

The ancient call of Love sounds ever so subtly through all the noise the intellect produces as it invites you to listen to the understanding of what you are. It continually calls to those who have reached that point in their existence where they perceive there is a better path to follow. It gently bypasses the intellect and speaks directly to the heart. It opens the heart to understanding as you remind yourself that you are pure Love created by Love in Its own Image. 

No fear of any kind can come near to those who know, accept and understand that they are an aspect of the underlying Energy that supports, holds and keeps the universe in its order as It continually creates the new. Those that can accept this, know there is no opposite to Love and therefore fear is a condition that doesn’t exist. They forever and eternally exist in Joy and Peace. 

I’m going to close this post with a quote by James Redfield:   “…the basic stuff of the universe, at its core, is looking like a kind of pure energy that is malleable to human intention and expectation in a way that defies our old mechanistic model of the universe–as though our expectation itself causes our energy to flow out into the world and affect other energy systems.”
