Which Is True?

All Course In Miracles quotes in these posts are taken from the “Original Edition,” published by the Course in Miracles Society of Omaha, Nebraska.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Why would you not be overjoyed to be assured that all the evil that you think you did was never done, that all your ‘sins’ are nothing, that you are as pure and holy as you were created, and that light and joy and peace abide in you?”   ~~A Course In Miracles
We humans are the strangest characters there are. We claim to believe in some sort of an all-powerful Higher Power, or God, if you prefer, but yet we see this Power as powerless. We believe that God had the power to create us but doesn’t have the power to look after what He created. It’s sort of like General Motors designing and then building a vehicle they don’t have the ability to repair if it breaks down. How silly would such a scenario be?
The reason you hold the silly belief that God is powerless to look after His own Creation is, you believe the body to be that which God created as you.
“God did not make the body because it is destructible and therefore not of the Kingdom. The body is the symbol of what you think you are.”   ~~Jesus, in A Course In Miracles
It’s so difficult for us humans to believe anything beyond that which our eyes can see, our ears can hear, our nose can smell or our fingers can touch. It will stretch your understanding to its uttermost limits to be told that the body you believe to be you is of your own making. The truth that when God created you He made you part of Him is a very difficult scenario to accept. Your ego will yell and scream  into your separated mind that even to consider such a belief is preposterous. But until you’re ready to accept the truth of it you’ll never understand anything about your existence.
Your body is the symbol of what you think you are because you have misused the mighty power of creation inherited by you as a Child (part) of God to project your false belief about your Self. You have misused this power because you believe that you are separate from God. When this power is used by a mind that believes it is separate it does not create the good, the beautiful, and the holy as you were created to do. Instead it miscreates the destructible, the illusionary and the worldly. Things that are not real but are illusionary and therefore destined to experience illusions such as those we refer to as old age, sickness and death.
“Miracles are thoughts. Thoughts can represent lower-order or higher-order reality. This is the basic distinction between intellectualizing and thinking. One makes the physical and the other creates the spiritual, and we believe in what we make or create.”    ~~Jesus, in A Course In Miracles
lower-order thoughts make the physical and the body is physical. God does not think any lower-order thoughts. God’s Thoughts are always Thoughts of Love and Love is the highest order in all of creation. In fact, It’s the only Order and the Source of all creation.
The mind that believes it’s separate from its Creator, which is Love, is filled with fear and can only think fearful thoughts which are of the lowest order in all of existence. The belief in separation made the ego and it’s also this belief that keeps the ego in existence. The ego cannot exist in any mind that believes it’s part of God.
And He will speak to you, reminding you that you are Spirit, one with Him and God, your brothers and your Self.    ~~Jesus, in A Course In Miracles
The above quote is from Lesson 97 in The Course, which is titled: I am Spirit. I used a quote from the same Lesson in my last post. And as I said last time, I would suggest that anyone who wants to increase their understanding of existence and their place in it should read and meditate upon this lesson frequently. You can access it here.
He that will speak to you is referring to God’s Teacher, the Holy Spirit. He is always speaking to you but you hardly ever hear because you aren’t listening. He will, if you’ll listen, answer all the questions you keep asking your ego mind such as, what am I; who am I; where am I; what is life all about, etc.? He will answer every one of your questions with this one answer: You are Spirit, a holy Child of God, free of all limits, safe and healed and whole.
“You see the flesh or recognize the Spirit. There is no compromise between the two. If one is real the other must be false, for what is real denies its opposite. There is no choice in vision but this one.”   ~~Jesus, in A Course In Miracles
It’s you who must choose which one is true for you. It’s you who must decide if you believe the ego, which will use every illusion at its disposal to convince you that you are a flesh body and nothing more. Or you must decide if you believe the Holy Spirit, which is God’s Voice, reminding you that you are Spirit. It’s an absolute certainty that you will decide one way or the other. For if you don’t recognize the Spirit then you have already decided to believe the ego. But you can make a conscious decision to change your mind and listen to God’s Voice and by doing so you will eventually recognize the Spirit.
To recognize something implies you already know it. Does it not make perfect sense that you know your Self? How could you not know the Self that God created as part of Him? Deep down inside of your Being you know that you’re not of this world. You know you’re more than a destructible body made of the food you eat. You know who you are and you know what you are! That’s why the Holy Spirit doesn’t tell you that you’re Spirit but reminds you. He knows that you already know what you are but have forgotten. He knows that you need only to be reminded to let the truth dawn upon your mind like a glorious new day dawns from the darkness of night.
“On this one choice does all your world depend, for here have you established what you are, as flesh or Spirit in your own belief.”   ~~Jesus, in A Course In Miracles
Life is all about choices. Every moment of every hour that you’re awake you’re making choices. Everything you do is a choice. Some of the choices you make are quite insignificant while others are the most important choices of your physical experience. The choice to continue seeing the flesh or to recognize the Spirit is, as implied in the above quote, the most important choice you’ll ever make during this physical experience we so erroneously refer to as life.
To see the flesh is a very easy choice for that’s what the body’s eyes were designed to do. They were designed to see the outside of all physical things, the part that stops light. The flesh is the only thing the ego urges you to look at and to never think beyond it as it teaches you that it’s what you are and no more.
But the choice to recognize the Spirit requires a conscious decision to think, feel and see with your heart instead of the ego mind. You will never know anything other than the flesh as long as you think, feel and see only with the intellect. For the intellect is the ego’s domain and the ego sees only the physical which is an illusion, therefore the ego sees nothing.
I‘m going to close this post with another quote from A Course In Miracles: “To be without a body is to be in our natural state. To recognize the light of truth in us is to recognize ourselves as we are.”
Thank you for visiting this site. I am truly grateful.
