“All fear is based on your inability to recognize love and thus who you are and who God is.” …ACOL
How can a child of God, a creation of Love Itself, not posses the ability to recognize Love? The answer lies in the simple fact that we have allowed the ego to teach us that we have separated ourselves from God, from Love, and now we have no idea of who we are. We believe we’re physical beings living in a physical word fully unaware that the world and our experiences here are all complete illusions.
The fact is, Love could never dwell in such a world and in truth neither could we. A Course in Miracles tells us that we either see the flesh or recognize the Spirit. It goes on to say, what you decide in this determines all you see and think is real and hold as true. And so whether you see the flesh or recognize the Spirit is your own choice. The Course also says, on this one choice does all your world depend, for here have you established what you are, as flesh or Spirit in your own belief.
There’s no doubt as to which of these choices most humans have made. All they have to do is look around at the conditions of the world that surrounds them and it becomes very obvious that most have come to the conclusion that they’re no more than flesh bodies living in a physical world. And by this conclusion they have relinquished their ability to recognize the Spirit, on in the context of this post, Love.
“Love alone has the power to turn this dream of death into a waking awareness of life eternal.” …ACOL

Those who have chosen to see the flesh only have also chosen to see their experience in this world as no more than a long and fearful road leading to the grave.
It can be no other way for there’s not one that doesn’t understand that the flesh is temporary. If you have convinced yourself that you and the body are one and the same then you have accepted yourself as a temporary entity. How could a decision such as that produce anything other than a life filled with negativity and fear?
“…Every choice you make establishes your own identity as you will see it and believe it is.” …ACIM
Everything you do, everything you say, everywhere you go is decided by choice. You are a being with complete free will to choose every move you make. These choices are always based on your belief of what you are. If you believe you are a weak, separated little body of flesh your choices are going to be immensely different than they would be if you believe you’re a powerful, spiritual creation of a loving God.
If the world you see is a drab world where fear, misery, sickness, pain, poverty, aged bodies and death are prevalent then it’s plain your choices are based on the former. You have established your identity as a separated body of flesh.
On the other hand, if you see a beautiful world where happiness, health, abundance, Love and life are prevalent then it’s clear that you have chosen the latter. You have established your identity as a powerful and loving Spirit Being who can never be separated from its Creator.
“As you once chose separation you can now choose unity… Now I tell you clearly, the choice is yours. Choose once again.” …ACOL

When we chose separation we made a conscious decision to do the impossible. We chose to end our relationship with our Creator – our Creator being Love. But a condition of separation from God is not possible.
Nevertheless the power of our minds has convinced us that we are separate, which has severely weakened our relationship with Love. In A Course in Miracles Jesus provides an exercise to help reestablish this relationship: Four or five times an hour, and perhaps even more, it would be most beneficial to remind yourself that Love created you like Itself.
Those who can find it within themselves to follow this practice will soon see any doubt about their identity slipping into the nothingness from which the ego draws all its beliefs. The belief that you’re a body or even that you dwell in one will soon fade away and you’ll recognize your true Self. An added benefit will be that you’ll recognize God as Love and Love as God and your Self as a being of pure Love filled with Divine Power.
You’ll begin to see the foolishness of this physical world with all its suffering, sickness, poverty, loneliness, misery and death as Donald Shimoda, the Reluctant Messiah in Richard Bach’s book, Illusions, described it: “This world? And everything in it? Illusions, Richard! Every bit of it”
“If perfect love casts out fear, and if fear exists, then there is not perfect love. But only perfect love really exists. If there is fear, it creates a state which does not exist.” …ACIM

Fear cannot exist in the presence of Love for fear is an ego-made condition and when Love is present the ego withdraws into obscurity. When you recognize Love you recognize your Self for Love is what you are.
As the ACIM image quote on the left says: There is nothing outside of you. If this is true, and you can rest assured it is, and yet you see an outside world filled with separate bodies and their attributes; what can it be other than illusions? Once you become aware of your true Identity this truth will dawn upon you in all its glory. You’ll no longer view the outside world as anything other than what it is, an ego-made world that has no foundation in reality.
As you practice telling yourself that Love created you like Itself you’ll see the light of understanding begin to glow through the darkness that separation and fear have made. Love is the one and only Creator in the universe and understanding is one of Its attributes. As you form a closer relationship with Love you’ll look at the negative and fearful conditions of this world with eyes of love and understanding. It’s Love and understanding that will bring an end to fear and the hell it has made.
I’m going to close this post with a quote from A Course in Miracles: “If you knew Who walks beside you on this way which you have chosen, fear would be impossible. You do not know because the journey into darkness has been long and cruel, and you have gone deep into it.
