“There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the universe.” …Wallace D. Wattles

Wallace Wattles wrote these words way back in 1910. I first read them approximately 20 years ago and the miraculous possibilities of the message they contained lighted up for me. Because of this I have never forgotten them. There’s just one small issue with them as far as I’m concerned, which is his use of the word, “stuff.” What he was describing is none other than the Energy we call LOVE, the same Energy that is the Source and the Means of all creation. In other words, he was referring to That which we call, God

Although he used a lower-order word in an attempt to describe the highest vibrational order of the universe he had discovered that which most people spend their entire lives searching for. He had discovered that from which everything proceeds. He had discovered that from which all things are brought into existence. He had discovered the Divine Energy of Love that surrounds, permeates, penetrates, and fills us all. In fact, he had come exceedingly close to recognizing his true Self.

“The stuff from which all things are made is a substance which thinks, and a thought of form in this substance produces the form.” …Wallace D. Wattles

I consider the above information by Wattles to be on par with the following words from Abraham-Hick: Every thought you think becomes an entity with the ability to think. Wattles had discovered his true Self only in the sense that he became aware that he was a creator. As the above quote tells us, he had not only discovered that he, and every other human, are creators, but he had discovered the means by which we create. He had discovered the Power of Thought.

But that being said, he had discovered the power of thought as an attribute of the ego-mind only. This is so because in his book where he used these words he promoted nothing but physical riches. By doing so he promoted ego-mind thinking which is the means by which all misery and negative characteristics are brought into the world. Therefore, he had not discovered the true Power of Thought.

The true Power of Thought is as far removed from ego-mind thinking as the light of the sun is removed from the flame of a candle. The true Power of Thought originates in Love, and extends the Attributes of Its Source, such as healing, happiness and joy into the world. All physical manifestations are projections of lower-order thought projected outward and in the strictest sense of the word are not real.

“Thoughts can represent lower-order or higher-order reality. This is the basic distinction between intellectualizing and thinking. One makes the physical and the other creates the spiritual…” ..ACIM

As can be seen from the above quote there are two orders of thought, one is the thought system of the ego-mind and the other is the Thought System of the heart, or if you prefer the Truth. The first one is of the ego and like the ego its foundation is fear. This system represents lower-order thoughts and is the one that makes the physical. Even though these thoughts originate in the lower-order vibrational realm of fear they still contain unimaginable power. They contain, as Jesus reminded us, sufficient power to make the physical.

“It is your thoughts alone that cause you pain. Nothing external to your mind can hurt or injure you in any way.” …ACIM

According to the above quote from Jesus Himself as recorded in A Course in Miracles, your thoughts contain the only power that can cause you pain, or hurt or injure you in any way. If it’s your thoughts alone that cause you pain, and you can be sure it is, then it’s time to pay attention to these thoughts.

By paying attention to what your predominate thoughts are about and how you’re feeling you’ll quickly learn which system they’re originating from. You’ll also begin to understand the immense power they contain for you’ll soon discover that your thoughts and your feelings are very closely connected. As Jesus also reminds us in A Course in Miracles, “Very few people appreciate the real power of the mind…”

It shouldn’t be difficult to see that if your thoughts are causing you pain or any other negative experience, then they are derived from the thought system of the ego-mind. And because they originate in the ego’s lower-order thought system which is based in fear, they cannot do other than imitate their source. Therefore, they are vibrating on the same range of lower-order frequencies as fear is.

“The thought system of the ego-mind is a learned system and this is why it can be unlearned.” …ACOL

Even though it may seem as if the ego-mind is part of you and therefore, your natural source of thought, it isn’t. The ego with all it’s negative attributes of fear is a made-up false image. You have made it up from all the bits and pieces of false and fearful information you have been taught about yourself since the time you were old enough to learn.

All of this false teaching of the world has caused most of us to use the awesome power of the mind to “make” a false self with a false thought system. There is absolutely no truth to be found anywhere in this false image or its thought system.

Every thought that enters your awareness is either sourced from this false system or the the real Thought System of Truth. There are only two in all of existence. One is false and is based in fear. The other is true and is based in LOVE. And you’ll always know which one you’re using by the way you feel.

“The thought system of the truth is always present as the truth is always present and can be neither learned nor unlearned.” …ACOL

Right here is where your power lies, for even though you have been taught falsehoods and have made up a false image of yourself you have kept the Power of decision. In fact, it’s the only real Power that that has stayed with you through all the false teachings and made-up false images. And now it has become the springboard to all the Power of the universe.

You can use this Power of decision and decide to pay attention to the only real knowledge you have access to as a physical entity, which is your feelings. Your feelings will tell you everything you need to know to decipher which thought system you’re thinking from. If you feel negative sensations such as, loneliness, sickness, anger, etc., then you can be sure that you are thinking from the ego-mind and your thoughts are “making the physical.” As Jesus explains it in A Course in miracles: “When your mood tells you that you have chosen wrongly, and this is so whenever you are not joyous, then know this need not be.”

On the other hand, if you’re experiencing positive feelings such as, contentment, health, joy, etc., then you can be sure your thoughts originate in LOVE, the thought system of the truth, which can only be accessed through the heart and never by the ego-mind.

I’m going to close this post with another quote from A Course in Miracles: “Know you are deprived of nothing except by your own decisions, and then decide otherwise.”
